About the role

  • Work with a team of developers, designers, and project managers to deliver websites and apps
  • Scope and architect technical solutions with internal and client teams
  • Create documentation for internal use and for clients, such as technical specifications and scope documents
  • Advise and manage teams to produce measurable results and take ownership of project success
  • Collaborate with project managers to meet requirements, timelines, and budgets
  • Prepare and conduct technical workshops and support pre-sales scoping and estimation
  • Mentor and train technical and non-technical team members
  • Architect performance-optimized, secure, and highly scalable WordPress solutions
  • Define and lead quality assurance processes and testing strategies (where applicable)

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of WordPress development experience, as well as technical leadership experience
  • Modern WordPress expertise - the block editor and block themes (not primarily third-party page builders or custom field plugins)
  • Experience with enterprise-level projects
  • Experience architecting large-scale solutions according to technical requirements
  • Ability to maintain a high-level view of projects and use understanding of context, scope, and development tasks to deliver solutions
  • Actively involved in the WordPress community (core contributions, plugin developer, documentation, contributing at WordCamps/Meetups, etc.)
  • Curious and up-to-date with the Gutenberg project and willingness to actively share
  • Wide range of technical experience (HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, caching layers, SQL), NPM, Webpack, Docker, DevOps, Gitlab CI/CD, managed hosts such as Pantheon or WP VIP
  • Expertise in performance optimization techniques and architecting highly scalable WordPress solutions
  • Knowledge of security best practices in web application development, particularly within WordPress
  • Experience in defining and leading quality assurance processes, including automated testing strategies and TDD (is a plus)
  • Proven experience working with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams on pre-sales scoping and project estimation
  • Ability to prepare and conduct technical workshops to refine project scope
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work on different projects concurrently
  • Ability to train technical and non-technical teams on solutions
  • Ability to create and present reports that communicate the details of a solution
  • Can do PHP development when necessary; Experience in Drupal development is a bonus
  • Experience advising and managing teams of developers and designers to achieve measurable results
  • Experience using project management tools like Redmine or JIRA
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English (however the posting encourages applicants who are not strong in both languages to apply)
  • Remote applicants must be available during Montreal working hours, use tools such as Slack, and have exceptional self-management and proactive communication skills
