About the role

  • Work closely with developers, designers, project managers and clients to create websites and apps that improve organizations and communities
  • Work with a team of developers, designers, and project managers
  • Scope and architect technical solutions with internal and client teams
  • Create documentation for internal use and for clients (technical specifications, scope documents)
  • Advise and manage teams to produce measurable results
  • Take ownership of project success, including meeting requirements, timelines and budgets (with project managers)
  • Participate in pre-sales scoping and project estimation
  • Prepare and conduct technical workshops to refine project scope
  • Train technical and non-technical teams on solutions and present reports
  • Contribute to the company culture and share knowledge across the team

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of WordPress development experience
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Modern WordPress expertise - the block editor and block themes (not primarily third-party page builders or custom field plugins)
  • Experience with enterprise-level projects
  • Experience architecting large-scale solutions according to technical requirements
  • Ability to maintain a high-level view of projects and deliver solutions on scope
  • Active involvement in the WordPress community (core contributions, plugin development, documentation, WordCamps/Meetups)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Gutenberg project and willingness to share
  • Technical experience with core web technologies (HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, caching layers, SQL)
  • Experience with NPM, Webpack, Docker, DevOps, GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with managed hosts such as Pantheon or WP VIP
  • Expertise in performance optimization and architecting highly scalable WordPress solutions
  • Knowledge of security best practices in web application development (WordPress)
  • Experience defining and leading QA processes, automated testing strategies, and TDD (a plus)
  • Proven experience in pre-sales scoping and project estimation with clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to prepare and conduct technical workshops to refine project scope
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to train technical and non-technical teams on solutions
  • Ability to create and present reports communicating solution details
  • Can do PHP development when necessary; Drupal experience is a bonus
  • Experience advising and managing teams of developers and designers to achieve measurable results
  • Experience using project management tools like Redmine or JIRA
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English
  • For remote applicants: available during Montreal working hours; use tools like Slack; exceptional self-management and proactive communication skills
