About the role

  • Accept, decline, approve, renew or cancel policies in accordance with Intact’s underwriting guidelines and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and within the authority level specified by the underwriting manager
  • Develop business opportunities and long-term, meaningful relationships with our broker partners by delivering legendary service
  • Use negotiation skills to maintain healthy relationships both inside and outside the company
  • Respond to inquiries and make recommendations to brokers and insurers verbally and in writing
  • Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events to support broker relationship development
  • Review underwriting reports and make recommendations as needed
  • Communicate changes related to product pricing, underwriting guidelines and new products
  • Support and mentor team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other Intact divisions

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) in Administrative Techniques with an insurance option, or in Insurance and Financial Services, or other training considered relevant
  • Possession of the PAA designation or being in the process of obtaining it is an asset
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience (auto insurance)
  • Experience in commercial insurance, trucking and specialty lines is a significant asset
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to work under pressure and flexibility to adapt to change
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills and sound business judgment
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
  • Ability to make decisions in urgent situations, solve complex problems, recommend courses of action and take calculated risks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products with intermediate Excel proficiency
  • No prior work experience in Canada required, but must have authorization to work in Canada
