About the role

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns and supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
  • Support quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Assist with tax planning initiatives to optimize the company’s effective tax rate and identify tax-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for estimated tax payments and extensions.
  • Assist with indirect tax compliance, including sales/use tax, franchise tax, property tax, and other business-related filings.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on complex tax issues and audits.
  • Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and update tax workpapers, processes, and internal controls related to tax compliance and reporting.
  • Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives related to tax functions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Finance, and Sales Operations to support tax aspects of business decisions and contracts.
  • Research and document tax technical issues and changes in tax legislation to ensure company compliance.
  • Coordinate audit requests for both internal and external audits related to tax matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is a plus.
  • 2+ years prior relevant experience in tax accounting gained in industry and/or public accounting.
  • Experience in a software or SaaS company preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes).
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar tax software is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial/tax software applications.
  • Experience/familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and internal control documentation.
