About the role

  • Manage projects through their lifecycle
  • Monitor budget and schedule for electrical and other scopes of work and identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
  • Manage the engineering of substation projects through the entire project lifecycle: from conceptual and feasibility, though detailed design, and into construction and into service
  • Business Development of existing and new clients
  • Manage project delivery including schedule and budget control and adherence
  • Lead or support substation engineering projects by clearly defining scopes of work, completing cost estimates, coordinating the design of engineering calculations, and developing detailed design drawings
  • Support documentation processed for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations
  • Coordinate the completion of QA/QC tasks including reviewing, checking and approving work output of assigned personnel, as required
  • Provide construction support and overall project engineering coordination, including outages
  • Support the Engineering Manager and Projects Director in project controls tasks
  • Provide leadership on new engineering programs as they arise
  • Respond to information requests during construction and completing project documentation including as-builts, calculations and return of data to the client
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with other design disciplines and external stakeholders and assist team leads and managers
  • Travel and visit project sites during design and construction

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of project management experience of design projects in an engineering field, preferably in substations
  • Experience working on substation design and construction with power utilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Eligibility to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Florida
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Familiarity with structural, civil, geotechnical, electrical, protection & control and telecom aspects of substation engineering
  • Experience with distribution, and transmission projects
  • Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future
