About the role

  • Structural Engineer leading inspection teams in projects involving bridges, dams, and other structures. Contributing to assessments, designs, and supporting early career professionals in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

  • Structural Team Leader for Inspections
  • Structural Condition Assessments
  • Bridge Load Rating Retrofit Design and Repair Detailing
  • Provide quality control of construction documents
  • Assisting and Training Early and Mid-Career professionals in condition assessments and repair/retrofit design
  • Contribute as required as a designer/analyst
  • Structural value engineering, third party design and constructability review, and risk assessment
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering focus (required)
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) (preferred)
  • Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) (preferred)
  • Professional registration as a Structural Engineer (S.E.) (preferred)
  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) directly relevant experience in a design environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
  • Minimum 2 years experience serving as a team leader or primary structural inspector (required)
  • Experience in the inspection of concrete, timber, and steel structures (required)
  • Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete, steel, and timber structures (required)
  • Registered Bridge Inspection Team Leader (preferred)
  • Successful completion of the FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course (preferred)
  • Bridge Load Rating experience (preferred)
  • The ability to sit for the NCEES 20-Hour Structural Engineering exam within two years of hire (preferred)
  • Knowledge of relevant structural engineering design and detailing software (AASHTOWare, RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, GSA, etc.) (required)
  • Knowledge of design collaboration software (Bluebeam Studio), and operation of CAD/VDC/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) (preferred)
  • Experience working within the construction sector or performing design work for contractors/construction managers (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and meeting strict deadlines (required)
  • Current OSHA 10-hr training (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
  • Candidates must currently hold and maintain valid U.S. work authorization.
