About the role
- Staff Software Engineer developing solutions for Redfin's real estate search platforms. Working on high-traffic pages and mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Research new technologies and provide forward thinking design ideas and solutions on our backend search systems
- Communicate with stakeholders to identify pain points and come up with long term technical strategy/planning
- Mentor our team's senior or next senior engineers
- Using and evangelizing approved AI code generation tools to document, architect, and create code
Requirements
- 7+ years of industry experience in the area of full-stack development and technical lead
- Expertise in search related technologies and topics such as Geospatial Search/PostGIS, data sharding, event driven pipelines, document text searching/SOLR, distributed architecture
- Expertise with architectural patterns, API design and building large-scale applications
- Deep knowledge of at least one AI code generation tool such as GitHub CoPilot, Anthropic Claude, Cursor or similar
- Experience working with Java, JavaScript, React, Relational Database and SQL
- Able to handle ambiguity, and communicates well with stakeholders
