About the role

  • Drive TRL (Technology Readiness Level) risk burndown and support strategic roadmapping for high-pressure turbine (HPT) airfoil materials and manufacturing
  • Develop and implement inspection and measurement techniques for state-of-the-art HPT airfoil materials
  • Lead process development from conception to production
  • Build, lead, and execute initiatives to expand airfoil inspection methods and capabilities
  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to solve multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary challenges
  • Proactively lead cross-functional efforts with key stakeholders
  • Support talent development to ensure the longevity of business and technical initiatives
  • Lead functional teams or projects to find creative solutions to complex material, manufacturing, and design challenges
  • Champion safety, structured problem-solving initiatives, and establish a culture of LEAN principles through FLIGHT DECK
  • Leverage data for tactical and strategic decision-making to drive operational efficiency and product management excellence
  • Conduct producibility evaluations, including reviews and the establishment of best practices for HPT airfoil manufacturing
  • Generate and document lessons learned and new standards in established archival systems
  • Communicate significant developments, lessons, and solutions to the broader team, including leadership
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve technology and processes related to additive non-destructive inspection technologies
  • Ability to work in-person more than 75% of the time, with the flexibility to travel between local sites in the Cincinnati and Dayton area
  • Experience with CMM, ALICONA, or equivalent machine programming
  • Proficiency in Polyworks, GOM, or equivalent software tools

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an Engineering/Science degree accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years (Metrology/NDE) experience
  • Experience in high-pressure turbine (HPT) airfoil manufacturing and inspection techniques
  • Expertise in non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and metrology methods
  • Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Hands-on experience working in development labs, manufacturing pilot lines, or full-rate production environments
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with precision
  • Problem-solving skills, demonstrated through the ability to analyze and resolve complex challenges
  • Leadership experience, with a proven ability to lead programs and projects effectively
  • Established project management skills, including planning, execution, and delivery
  • Experience with VCT or large STL files to measure fine features (<0.030 inch)
  • Knowledge of MSA (Measurement System Analysis), GR&R (Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility), and statistical capability studies
  • Expertise in defining features and applying GD&T to complex geometries
