About the role
- Engineer combining backend development and customer-facing work to build integrations, APIs, and Astra AI-agent solutions for Wati's WhatsApp-first SaaS.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical bridge between customers, product, and engineering teams; design, implement, and support solutions that bring business impact.
- Work closely with customers to understand requirements and design technical solutions using Astra - Wati’s AI Agent platform.
- Build, customize, and integrate APIs, microservices, and automation workflows.
- Collaborate with product managers to translate customer needs into product improvements.
- Deliver product demos, POCs, and technical workshops to enterprise clients.
- Debug and resolve technical issues in production environments.
- Contribute to technical documentation, best practices, and internal tooling.
- Code and collaborate directly with customers to shape product direction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or backend development.
- Strong coding ability in JavaScript, Python, or Go (bonus: hands-on with APIs/SDKs).
- Familiarity with SaaS platforms, integrations, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to balance product usability and technical feasibility.
- Bonus: Prior experience in customer-facing engineering roles (Solutions Engineer, Pre-sales, or Technical Consultant).
