About the role
- Investigate and benchmark alternative CI platforms to improve developer experience, speed, cost efficiency, and security
- Expand self-hosted CI infrastructure to span multiple Google Cloud Platform regions and pick the cheapest region per CI run
- Experiment with infrastructure cost reduction approaches (spot instances, binpacking efficiency on Kubernetes nodes)
- Improve Vault setup (disaster recovery) and design a secure developer experience for managing application secrets
- Support migration of Postgres databases from Cloud SQL to CNPG focusing on reliability, scalability, zero-downtime upgrades, running Postgres in Kubernetes with operators, and implementing Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
- Work closely with the SRE team and broader R&D organization on production-scale infrastructure challenges and end-to-end testing
Requirements
- Familiarity with Kubernetes (GKE), Istio, Terraform, ArgoCD
- Experience or interest in Golang, C# on .Net Core Linux, Python (for AI use cases), React/TypeScript
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Singlestore, ElasticSearch
- Knowledge of observability tools like Datadog (logs, traces, metrics, security, performance monitoring)
- Familiarity with GitHub, Docker, Temporal, RabbitMQ, CircleCI, Vault
- Interest in SRE topics such as CI/CD evolution, multi-region GCP infrastructure, infrastructure cost optimization, secrets management, and Postgres migrations
