About the role

  • Lead design from discovery to deployment as a mid-weight Service Designer for Government and Public Sector projects.
  • Conduct user research during the discovery phase of projects.
  • Create user journey blueprints to explore and describe the service or operational environment.
  • Build and test prototypes (digital and non-digital, e.g., policy ideas or processes).
  • Work closely with clients and colleagues in multi-functional teams.
  • Guide and train others in the organisation on service design methods and practices.
  • Champion user-centred design across projects and the broader Faculty team.
  • Operate autonomously and provide thought leadership in user research and product strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Service Designer in a Government context or on public service design challenges.
  • Ability to work autonomously and hold your own in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Strong mix of strategic and analytical skills.
  • Experience working deeply with technology within multifunctional teams that have deployed products or services; experience of or a passion for AI is an advantage.
  • Willingness to mentor and teach others service designer best practice.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance: lived in the UK for the past 5 years continuously (role requirement).
