About the role
- Senior Software Engineer driving maintenance releases and hotfixes for Cloudera’s data platforms. Collaborating on Hadoop projects and contributing to the Apache Software Foundation community.
Responsibilities
- Drive Cloudera’s Data Platforms’ maintenance releases (perform system test analysis, deliver backports and develop new patches).
- Debug system level deployment issues, root cause analysis, and resolve failures.
- Work with Java, Python on different components, on our test framework and automation tools.
- Gain a solid understanding and deep technical knowledge of Hadoop components across the Cloudera stack, which you can utilize in your daily tasks.
- Work on improving the internal infrastructure
- Spend 20% of your time working on open source upstream development
Requirements
- Relevant studies / BS or MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years development experience in at least 1 of the following languages: Java / Python
- Development experience in Linux environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience (or demonstrated interest) in distributed computing or high availability systems is a plus.
