About the role

  • Support experiments, new feature launches and strategic initiatives for Venmo
  • Collaborate with product and engineering counterparts to support experiments and feature launches
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced data science models
  • Mine Venmo’s data to generate insights and analyze consumer product performance and health
  • Partner with product leaders to recommend metrics and build business cases
  • Identify key metrics, conduct explorative data analysis, and create executive-facing dashboards
  • Triage product issues, provide recommendations and optimization strategies
  • Collaborate with engineering and data engineering to enable feature tracking and build data pipelines
  • Ensure data quality and integrity and resolve complex data and tracking issues
  • Define and cultivate best practices in analytics instrumentation and experimentation
  • Drive best practices in data science and stay updated with latest trends
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets
  • B.S. in a quantitative field; advanced degrees preferred
  • Fluent in SQL and at least one scripting language such as Python or R
  • Comfortable working with large, complex, and potentially messy datasets
  • Understanding of statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing, statistical inference, regression)
  • Experience designing and evaluating complex experiments
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Prior work experience in a product analytics space highly valued
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior analysts/data scientists
  • Highly motivated, result-oriented self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
