About the role
- Senior Network Security Engineer implementing Zscaler and SASE at Vanguard. Lead deployments, automation, analytics, and mentorship for enterprise network security.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior level network services including installing, configuring, and integrating Zscaler security technologies
- Identify and validate project solutions, justify business need, and manage product procurement
- Participate in advanced security policy decisions including firewall and SASE logic reviews
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to increase productivity and maintain high quality deployments
- Partner with vendors and internal partners to design and optimize security solution deployments
- Provide advanced network analytics for complex issues elevated from Tier 2 support groups
- Work closely with developers to implement reliable, manageable, and secure solutions that meet Vanguard standards
- Identify performance issues, interpret trends (e.g., traces of network traffic), and implement improvements
- Write documentation, including policies and procedures, and create diagrams, including solution designs
- Add, update, and close records in IT Problem Management and Change Management databases
- Train and mentor staff including formal training sessions and one-on-one sessions
- Complete capacity planning activities, monitor and track capacity metrics, and initiate actions to prevent degradation
- Understand and comply with IT/security policies and procedures; participate in special projects and other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience
- Five years’ network technician experience
- Previous experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Working understanding of code and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills
- Strong project leadership skills
- No visa sponsorship (Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position)
