About the role

  • Manage end-to-end accounting and reporting activities for global Royalties and Collaborations, US Biopharma and R&D business units, including period close activities, manual journal entries, reconciliations, disclosures, payments
  • Establish operational activities/projects that support mid-term goals and set direction for the team and overall Controllers – Global Accounting
  • Manage and lead people, technology, and financial resources
  • Act as technical/functional expert providing leadership and direction to direct reports and other teams across Controllers, F&GBS and stakeholder areas
  • Set objectives for and manage multiple projects/ongoing work activities of high complexity within Controllers, F&GBS, and stakeholders' areas
  • Provide input to senior management decisions that may have an impact on the team and stakeholders
  • Actively share knowledge with others across multiple stakeholders through existing knowledge sharing processes/systems and encourage others to share knowledge across the organization
  • Identify existing process/product improvements and develop innovative, advanced new concepts (emerging technology, AI) that improve processes/products across Global Accounting and stakeholders areas
  • Champion innovation by developing resources to implement new ideas and taking appropriate risks within Global Accounting
  • Manage performance of direct and indirect reports and support Controllers Global Accounting objectives through goal setting, ongoing assessment and coaching, and performance evaluation
  • Recognize development needs and identify/create development opportunities (e.g., special assignments) for colleagues; develop a talent base and anticipate development needs within the team
  • Prepare for and manage change that impacts the team, Controllers Global Accounting and stakeholders areas
  • Act as a team culture champion to instill, encourage, and manage Pfizer culture for all direct and indirect reports and ensure strong team engagement, as measured by Pulse surveys, PLI evaluations, and goal achievement
  • Lead site and Controllers Global Accounting initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in applicable discipline with Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience required
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Practical experience of US GAAP and Statutory Accounting/Experience of other GAAPs required
  • SAP & FCCS experience strongly preferred
  • International experience seen as a plus
  • English proficiency required
  • CPA or international equivalent (ACCA) required
  • Management and supervisory experience required
  • Ability to drive innovation and manage complex projects
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives
