About the role

• Senior Linux System Administrator overseeing IT infrastructure and services at GameDuell's Berlin office. Focused on high-quality game development and customer experience improvements.

Responsibilities

• Optimization, expansion, monitoring, updating and maintenance of our internal IT systems and services, including server and cloud infrastructure
• Planning and implementation of service setups using Ansible
• Point of contact for provisioning, installation and troubleshooting of server and cloud services as well as other internal services for all teams (mail server, file server, Kubernetes, telephone system, JIRA, Confluence, OTRS, etc.)
• Development of scripts (Python, Bash) to optimize, automate and extend services, applications and processes
• Administration of desktop operating systems (Linux, Windows and macOS) and application installations via software deployment systems (Jamf, ninjaOne), as well as providing 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-level helpdesk support for our team members
• Analyzing and addressing security risks (IT security)

Requirements

• Completed degree in IT or computer science, or equivalent vocational training (e.g., Fachinformatiker Systemintegration)
• More than five years of professional experience as a System Administrator with Linux operating systems (preferably Red Hat/CentOS/Rocky and Debian/Ubuntu)
• Extensive knowledge in automation and orchestration using configuration management tools (preferably Ansible) and experience with monitoring tools (Checkmk, Nagios/Icinga, ELK Stack, etc.)
• Solid scripting experience with Python and Bash
• Experience operating 24/7 production environments and in developing and implementing strategies for highly available internal services
• Fluent German skills and good command of the English language
• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., XEN, KVM, Hyper-V) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes or similar)
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (such as AWS, GCP, etc.)
• Experience with directory services (Entra, AD/LDAP) as well as RDBMS (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL) and web/proxy servers (Apache, nginx or HAProxy)
• Confident handling of networking technologies (DHCP, DNS, IPsec etc.) and configuration of network hardware (VLAN, routing etc.)
• Experience with software deployment systems such as Jamf or ninjaOne
