About the role
- Develop and maintain Spotify's Payment SDK and pay-in functionality for initial payment transactions
- Architect and implement highly scalable systems and front end components from concept to deployment within Spotify’s internal commerce platform
- Lead the design and development of critical features in Java and Python backend services for high-volume, low-latency environments
- Set up, run and analyze experiments to inform product and engineering decisions
- Drive operational excellence by championing best practices in monitoring, alerting, and incident response for production systems
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams across Spotify to deliver impactful solutions
- Own critical frontend & backend services and datasets that power merchandising, order management, payment orchestration, and purchase flows
Requirements
- Experienced with modern JavaScript, testing and debugging
- Experience building and scaling Java and/or Python backend services in cloud-native environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience building and managing the entire software lifecycle of libraries or tools used by other developers
- Knowledge and practical experience with scalable database technologies like PostgreSQL
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong bias for action and pragmatic engineering approach
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; comfortable driving technical discussions and presenting complex ideas
- Self-driven, proactive engineer committed to continuous improvement through feedback and shared learning
- Experience in e-commerce, financial engineering, or high-volume transaction processing domains is a bonus
