About the role

  • Senior Electrical Engineer shaping direction of renewable energy projects at DNV. Collaborating with experts to deliver high-impact solutions in power systems and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Act and lead as a collaborative electrical engineering subject-matter expert across projects
  • Draft and review inter-organizational technical reports with internal teams (independent engineering, M&A advisory, owner’s engineering)
  • Critically evaluate the design of transmission, substation, and collection systems with emphasis on safety, cost, and functionality
  • Lead proposal development and manage small- to medium-sized consulting projects
  • Drive business development by identifying client needs, shaping service offerings, and cultivating long-term relationships with key accounts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, prototype, and deploy AI-powered tools that support engineering analysis, automation, and decision-making
  • Contribute to market positioning and thought leadership (committees, conferences, webinars, white papers, blog posts)
  • Review electrical designs and associated studies for solar, onshore/offshore wind, high-voltage substations, and other power-system components
  • Perform or review power system studies (grounding/earthing, reactive power, cable ampacity, collection system design)
  • Provide commissioning, safety, and electrical procedures guidance and training
  • Participate in field work and analysis across power systems, frequently interacting with turbines, solar plants, and energy analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy projects (e.g., wind, solar, battery, hydrogen and/or power electronics)
  • Professional engineer license (PE or P.Eng.)
  • Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, NEC, and CIGRE standards and guidance
  • Experience in the design and construction of electrical systems (distribution, power system studies/modeling)
  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or other engineering analysis platforms, and experience with AI-accelerated tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • The employee will be required to serve clients in person, by email, and by phone, both in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada and the United States.
