About the role

• Senior Director, Associate General Counsel providing legal guidance for GEICO’s Personal Auto business. Leading a team of attorneys and advising on regulatory compliance and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead legal advisor for GEICO’s Personal Auto business, guiding product development, underwriting, and claims strategies.
• Provide proactive legal counsel on state and federal insurance regulations, consumer protection laws, and compliance requirements.
• Partner with business leaders on new product innovation and enhancements while balancing risk and business objectives.
• Maintain awareness of and provide advice on key legislative and regulatory developments impacting personal auto insurance.
• Lead a team of attorneys (and collaborate with other Legal leaders) to deliver high-quality, practical legal solutions.
• Advise senior leadership and participate in strategic initiatives impacting GEICO’s growth and market positioning.
• Represent the Legal department in internal governance meetings and external regulatory discussions as needed.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 12+ years of legal experience, including at least 5 years focused on regulatory or insurance product matters (personal auto experience strongly preferred).
• Prior leadership experience managing attorneys and developing high-performing teams required.
• Strong understanding of insurance laws, compliance frameworks, and regulatory environment.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues for business partners.
• Proven ability to balance legal risk with business priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry.
