About the role
- Build scalable data systems in Kotlin to ingest, process, and explore complex insurance datasets for real-time insights.
- Design distributed analytics infrastructure on AWS using Terraform to handle enterprise-scale data volumes.
- Deliver customer-facing analytics features that transform how users understand and optimise risk modelling.
- Drive technical innovation in data architecture and pilot emerging technologies and AI/ML approaches.
- Collaborate across Product, UX, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions.
- Elevate system quality through robust architecture decisions, comprehensive testing, and clear documentation.
Requirements
- Built production backend systems with proven experience as a polyglot engineer, ideally with strong Kotlin skills.
- Strong Kotlin skills and ability to work across multiple languages and tech stacks.
- Delivered scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Hands-on experience building distributed systems that handle real-world data volumes.
- Designed robust data architectures with a strong grasp of distributed systems and API development.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions and delivering customer-facing features.
- Maintained high code quality standards with clean, well-documented, maintainable systems.
- Demonstrated curiosity about emerging technologies, particularly around data processing, analytics platforms, and AI/ML tools.
- Comfortable with hybrid working (spending 2–3 days in the office each week).
