About the role
- Reinsurance Accountant handling ceded financial accounting and reporting for Hamilton's UK, US, and Ireland operations. Collaborating with various stakeholders and supporting key financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Review of ceded written premium calculations from the reinsurance admin system (SICS Cede) and oversight of the ceded data within the data warehouse
- Transformation of reinsurance data used for accounting and reporting purposes
- Processing and oversight of ceded premium and loss journals
- Preparation of general ledger reconciliations for ceded reinsurance technical accounts
- Calculation and reporting of all net QS and intercompany (cross platform’) reinsurance arrangements
- Assist with queries from key stakeholders including FP&A, Finance, Actuarial, Audit
- Support the presentation of quarterly ceded premium output to management
- Support the provision of ceded data to the actuarial function and any ceded IBNR reporting requirements
- Work with the wider Ceded Reinsurance team to ensure all policies, processes and procedures are appropriately developed and maintained
Requirements
- Experience in insurance technical accounting and industry experience, with a preference for reinsurance experience specifically
- Accounting qualification
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong IT literacy including SUN, Word, advanced Excel with ability to handle large data sets
- Experience with data warehouse structures preferred
- Data reconciliation experience
- Strong analytical skills and good understanding of books of accounts/profit centre
