About the role

  • Lead the squad that builds the backbone of Juniper Square’s financial and web reporting and set standards for customizable, actionable reporting.
  • Champion and embed AI-native development practices and tools to achieve productivity gains and guide effective use of AI code generation.
  • Take ownership over the team's architecture, participate in design reviews, and drive long-term technical vision and software best practices.
  • Actively code, test, and deliver roadmap projects while maintaining high-quality team deliverables through guidance and hands-on code reviews.
  • Design and implement workflow automation solutions and identify opportunities to leverage AI and modern tooling to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage the team's short-term roadmap, identify risks, and create mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Lead and mentor engineers, foster technical and professional growth, and own hiring and team-level organizational design.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Customer support, other eng teams) to understand needs and deliver impactful solutions, handling most cross-team conflicts autonomously.
  • Own monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving production issues for team services and establish strong operational practices.
  • Provide technical leadership for AI squads, guide architectural decisions, prototype and unblock complex challenges, and set technical standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience demonstrating a trajectory of increasing technical leadership, architectural responsibility, and mentorship.
  • Proven experience in software engineering with significant hands-on technical contributions, including system design and architecture.
  • Demonstrable product focus and understanding of how technology solves customer problems and drives business outcomes.
  • Highly self-driven with proactive leadership and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience or strong interest in workflow automation, systems integration, and leveraging AI/ML tools to improve internal processes.
  • Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with practices that promote rapid iteration and velocity.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • "Player-coach" mindset with ability and willingness to be hands-on with code, design, and architecture.
  • Enthusiasm for adopting and driving AI-native development tools and methodologies (e.g., Cursor, Augment, Lovable.ai).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture, modern software development practices, and building scalable, reliable systems.
  • Prior formal engineering management experience is a plus; strong Tech Lead experience with architectural responsibility and mentorship is highly valued.
