Lead EHS compliance and management system audits, develop EHS strategies, and manage sustainable operations programs for ERM. Support mining and high-hazard clients in Canada and internationally.
Responsibilities
Lead EHS compliance, management system and sustainability framework audits as a single auditor or as part of an audit team
Provide technical support in development of EHS strategies, processes, plans, and reports to support client management systems and programs
Support ERM’s Safe and Sustainable Operations Team and grow capability to meet international mining standards (ICMM Performance Expectations, CopperMark, Cyanide Code, Towards Sustainable Mining)
Project manage sustainable operations national and global programs, creating effective and efficient teams that operate safely
Communicate with clients and technical resources to control budget, schedule, and scope
Conduct training, in-field coaching, and lead meetings/presentations
Support ERM Partners and Project Managers to effectively manage and deliver projects
Steward and build client relationships leading to repeat business
Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees
Requirements
Undergraduate or master’s degree in environmental, sustainability or related health and safety science, engineering, or business education (or equivalent experience)
6+ years of relevant work experience (12+ years preferred)
Experience in consulting or industry EHS roles, preferably both in Canada and internationally
Broad experience assessing EHS management systems, including mining and metals and other high-hazard industries (oil and gas, petrochemicals, pulp & paper, power generation)
Health, safety, or environmental specialization with experience in all aspects
Familiarity with information solutions/data analytics to support management system implementation and analysis
Understanding and/or working knowledge of the Canadian EHS regulatory environment
Interpersonal skills to establish client relationships and interact with senior management and frontline employees
Effective oral and written technical communication skills
Ability to work independently and in teams to accomplish complex tasks
Flexibility to handle multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines
Willingness to travel up to 40% of time
Certifications desirable: EP (EMS LA), EP (CEA), CSRP, P.Eng., MBA (highly desirable)
