About the role

  • Review, analyze, and negotiate leases, amendments, omnibus agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with company guidelines.
  • Negotiate template lease provisions to align with approved company standards.
  • Prepare legal documents for execution and track the status of outstanding documents.
  • Complete lease abstracts for all new lease documents and maintain tracking reports for lease review and daily workflow.
  • Draft legal notices and correspondence related to leases and other legal matters, including termination notices, co-tenancy notices, and default responses.
  • Prepare and review Estoppel Certificates and Subordination, Non-Disturbance, and Attornment (SNDA) Agreements for execution by company officers.
  • Notarize lease documents and other corporate documents as required.
  • Resolve field and operational concerns related to landlord/tenant issues and lease compliance.
  • Monitor landlord default notices and track resolution progress.
  • Develop strong partnerships and maintain communication with corporate departments to share lease-related information and interpret lease terms and clauses.
  • Provide general assistance to corporate attorneys, including legal research, litigation support, and other assigned legal matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
  • 3–5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Notary Public designation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, and DocuSign
