Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of innovative optical DWDM communication systems.
- Collaborate closely with Product Line Management to define and refine product requirements and specifications.
- Design and validate optical line system controls, working alongside software development and testing teams.
- Create system design rules and performance models to enhance product reliability and performance.
- Demonstrate cutting-edge optical transmission technologies to key customers, showcasing our solutions.
- Provide technical leadership by advising on fiber transmission characteristics and nonlinearities in DWDM designs.
- Foster strong cross-functional and international teamwork, enhancing collaboration across engineering and product teams.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders, facilitating mutual understanding and innovation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Optics/Engineering or M.S. in Optics/Electrical Engineering + 5 years of experience
- Excellent foundational knowledge of DWDM systems and transmission fiber effects
- Hands-on experience with DWDM transmission systems, including coherent transponders and ROADMs
- Strong communication and presentation skills with a focus on cross-functional teamwork
- Experience in the architecture and validation of distributed optical line system control systems (nice to have)
- Understanding of advanced coherent modulation formats and their practical applications (nice to have)
- Familiarity with closed loop and open loop control systems (nice to have)
- Experience demonstrating new optical technologies to customers (nice to have)
