Mechanical Engineer at Zelus Material Handling designing and producing high-quality mechanical upgrades and fabrications. Collaborating with teams to ensure safety and compliance in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Prepare concept, design and production drawings with supporting calculations and material data ensuring that designs meet specification requirements and manufacturing capabilities for new fabrications and existing equipment mechanical upgrades
Produce assembly and detail/shop drawings for production
Review and seal drawings
Interfacing with customers, vendors and managers to determine project scope, requirements, deliverables, budget, costing and schedules, etc.
Develop the technical documents required to carry out projects
Assist in preparing cost estimates and sourcing products
Produce BOM's and material requisitions
Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing mechanical builds on equipment
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OHSA), promote safe working practices including safe equipment operation, hazard reporting, and awareness of rights
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Post-Secondary Degree in Mechanical or Structural (Civil) Engineering or relevant experience
3 to 5 years of experience
Heavy Industrial Equipment Experience or O/H Crane experience is an asset
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solidworks computer-assisted design (CAD) software
Experience in designing machine-welded assemblies, a major asset
Experience in structural design, an asset
Knowledge of CSA S16 and CMAA specifications, an asset
Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work in cross-functional teams
Ability to manage priorities and work on various projects concurrently
Ability to exercise good judgment in resolving customer service issues.
