About the role

  • Manager overseeing tax compliance processes at Baker Tilly, providing client tax services and driving operational improvements. Collaborating with principals and cross-functional teams for service excellence and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with principals, serving as a trusted advisor while exercising discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Act as a key point of contact on principal tax-related matters, ensuring clear communication and professionalism.
  • Oversee and coordinate electronic filing (e-filing) of tax returns and extensions, ensuring compliance with deadlines, regulations, and firm standards.
  • Review, assemble, and validate tax documents such as returns and extensions, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Direct processes for maintaining client records, both digital (e.g., GoFileRoom) and physical, ensuring secure storage and efficient retrieval.
  • Design, implement, and manage workflows to support tax operations, including tracking deliverables, monitoring deadlines, and coordinating team activities.
  • Lead initiatives and special projects that improve service delivery, optimize compliance practices, and align with evolving business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in tax compliance, administration, or professional services.
  • Strong knowledge of tax deadlines, e-filing, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage complex workflows and meet tight deadlines with accuracy.
  • Proficiency in document management systems (e.g., GoFileRoom) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with leadership.
  • High level of discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
  • Track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiency as an individual contributor.
