About the role

  • Provide comprehensive legal and business support to assigned business divisions and strategic business units
  • Interface with sales, engineering, product, customer service, finance, and supply chain to mitigate commercial and regulatory risk
  • Review, draft, and negotiate multi-million-dollar commercial agreements (products, services, licensing, joint developments, vendor agreements)
  • Provide antitrust guidance (e.g. MAP) and train sales team on contracts/processes
  • Manage privacy/data security compliance and coordinate with trade compliance on export controls and tariffs
  • Advise finance on contractual rights and obligations and manage external counsel spend
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and advise on supply chain contract terms (consignment, exclusivity)
  • Oversee commercial litigation with outside counsel and support dispute resolution
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop scalable legal processes, and support customer service with regulatory liability issues
  • Collaborate with VP, Associate General Counsel, and legal leadership on significant global matters

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor and U.S. Bar admission
  • 8+ years of relevant in-house or law firm experience providing strategic legal counsel to business divisions
  • Extensive experience reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements (distribution, dealer, e-commerce, licensing, supply agreements)
  • Experience managing contract lifecycle and familiarity with contract management systems
  • Deep familiarity with industry regulations including safety standards, data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), MAP, selective distribution, consumer safety laws (CPSC), export regulations
  • Proven experience in negotiation, mediation, and managing litigation while overseeing outside counsel
  • Ability to handle complex negotiations with minimal supervision and provide strategic counsel to operational managers
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing with customers, suppliers, and external counsel
  • Advanced project management capabilities and ability to work under pressure with multiple stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of financial concepts (audit rights, payment terms, defaults, royalties)
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% (domestic and international)
  • Willingness to work remotely and occasionally in an office in Northridge, CA; Richardson, TX; or Novi, MI
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen
  • Bonus: Spanish or Portuguese fluency
