About the role

  • Work closely with ML researchers and data scientists to productionise code and translate research prototypes into robust, scalable products
  • Deploy production-ready code from ML engineers and researchers and provide guidance on deployable code best practices
  • Identify and engineer efficient deployment patterns for deep learning models and choose inference frameworks
  • Prepare, restructure and ensure data contracts with backend teams for ML inference
  • Create efficient deployment packages and productionise solutions for scale
  • Host and deploy models internally using Databricks@Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Input into objective functions, content strategy and wider data strategy with the AI and decisioning team and Director of AI and Decision Intelligence
  • Keep up-to-date with DL and LLM research and iterate on solutions accordingly

Requirements

  • 1 year of industry experience working in an MLE, ML research or Data Science role with applicable engineering skills
  • Experienced Python programmer with 2+ years of programming experience in a day-to-day ML setting
  • Experience with PyTorch and/or other deep learning frameworks
  • Experience applying deep learning or deep probabilistic modelling solutions to business problems and launching them in production
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems
  • Good understanding of core machine learning concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply learned knowledge
  • Systems thinker who can design scalable solutions for emerging systems
  • Ability to solve cold-start problems and combine ML and computer science approaches
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment and handling ambiguity
  • Good interpersonal skills and experience working across varied engineering backgrounds (preferred)
  • Industrial experience with LLMs, fine-tuning OSS LLMs, distillation, or LangChain (plus)
  • Experience deploying to Azure AKS and using Databricks (plus)
  • Must be based in the UK for hybrid/remote roles
