About the role
- Lead Engineer in Transmission Engineering responsible for planning and implementation. Provide operational support and manage vendor relationships in a hybrid work setup.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, design and implementation and operational support of the transmission Network
- Support pre-sale and capacity check processes providing technical expertise within and out of the transmission products
- Support network design or design required transmission solutions in response to Network Capacity and Customer demands
- Implement and integrate designed transmission solutions
- Control proper implementation of transmission project and associated documentation
- Maintain awareness of deploying industry standards, technologies and products with a view to and report on their expected impact on the network
- Work with operation groups, product development and engineering teams to ensure that network and customer requirements are fully understood, captured, designed and implemented
- Design customer circuits and integrate network solutions according to received tasks
- Execute all other tasks assigned by line manager
Requirements
- Would be UK Security Cleared or be prepared to undergo a process to become Security Cleared, due to the nature of the customer base
- Strong DWDM design experience in System Integrator/network provider
- Good knowledge of overall telecoms infrastructure such as Dark Fibre, CoLo, Metro, Local Access and managed services such as DWDM, OPN, ETH transport
- Experience in Network Operations
- A demonstrable understanding of an Optical Transmission System, preferably Knowledge of Infinera DWDM technology (DTN/DTNX/FLEX)
- Familiar with System/Platform migrations
- Familiarity with Ethernet Packet Routing/Switching
