About the role

  • Provide senior-level technical support for U.S. Navy diesel propulsion and power generation systems throughout their lifecycle.
  • Lead technical analysis and provide recommendations based on diesel engine performance analysis (DEPA) data.
  • Conduct engine balance/grooming events and evaluate performance trends to ensure optimal engine operation.
  • Support Navy programs including the Diesel Maintenance Strategy (DMS) and Diesel Readiness System (DRS).
  • Utilize Shipboard Automated Maintenance Manager (SAMM) software for maintenance planning, tracking, and execution.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the following diesel engine lines, with at least four (4) years of combined hands-on experience.
  • Provide technical recommendations and reports to fleet personnel, NSWCPD leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Support certification, inspection, and maintenance events as a Fleet Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) and/or OEM Technical Service Representative.
  • Deliver training, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior engineering personnel and shipboard crews.
  • Ensure compliance with Navy engineering standards, maintenance requirements, and fleet readiness directives.

Requirements

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of U.S. Navy Engineman or equivalent maritime engineering experience in diesel propulsion and power generating systems.
  • At least three (3) years of direct experience with Diesel Maintenance Strategy (DMS) and Diesel Readiness System (DRS) programs.
  • Prior certification as a U.S. Navy Fleet Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) and/or OEM Technical Service Representative.
  • At least four (4) years of combined operational/maintenance experience on FM-Pielstick, IF, and MTU diesel engine lines.
  • Proficient in Shipboard Automated Maintenance Manager (SAMM) software.
  • Experienced in diesel engine performance analysis (DEPA), including data collection, review, and technical assessment.
  • Skilled in conducting engine balance and grooming events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
