About the role
- Mainframe Programmer ensuring reliable and scalable mainframe applications as part of multinational IT service provider in Krakow. Collaborating on system improvements and continuous development for financial services clients.
Responsibilities
- Review existing systems, applications, and developments.
- Present ideas for system improvements, optimization, and automation of existing applications.
- Work closely with other mainframe systems engineers, business analysts, operations teams, and colleagues.
- Create detailed specifications and requirements and write program code.
- Occasionally test program code in controlled, real-world scenarios before go-live.
- Occasionally prepare training materials, co-train colleagues, and produce documentation.
- Maintain systems and programs once they are in production.
Requirements
- Professional experience with software tools such as: IBM ISPF, IBM IMS/DC, IBM CICS, IBM RACF, IBM TWS/OPC, IBM RD/z, Compuware FileAid, Compuware Xpediter, Atlassian JIRA.
- Programming, scripting, libraries, APIs: IBM Job Control Language (JCL), Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Structured Query Language (SQL), IBM Restructured Extended Executor (REXX), Assembler, Programming Language One (PL/1).
- Ability to use one or more programming languages: COBOL, REXX, PL/1, Assembler.
- Databases: IBM DB2 for z/OS (mainframe), Oracle, IBM IMS/DB.
- Operating systems: z/OS (OS/390 - MVS/XA), BS2000/OSD, Windows.
- Hardware: IBM mainframe, Windows PCs.
- Excellent English skills.
- Good German language skills are an advantage.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Experience in the insurance industry is a plus (optional).
