About the role
- Insurance Governance Leader overseeing compliance with insurance governance regulations for Mercer Super. Responsible for claims management and stakeholder engagement within the trustee office.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Mercer Super’s adherence with the insurance governance regulatory framework
- Determining insurance agenda items for Board and Committee meetings
- Review insurance-related meeting papers/presentations
- Be accountable for all compliance sign-offs
- Liaise with Line 1 and Line 2 Risk & Compliance, internal audit and external auditors
- Represent Mercer Super in internal audit and APRA regulator reviews
- Manage the assessment, approval and review of Mercer Super's claims delegates
- Oversee the claims management and delegation functions
- Ensure all Mercer Super Claims Delegates are appropriately skilled and experienced
- Oversee the quarterly reviews of all insurance manager reporting
- Escalate any issues of concern to the Trustee Office Leader
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years relevant superannuation industry experience
- At least 5 years relevant experience in a financial services role with a group insurance focus
- Experience in a client servicing/consulting role is also desirable
- Excellent working knowledge of a trustee’s role and responsibilities
- Detailed knowledge of claims management and assessment
- Understanding of superannuation and insurance legislation and current issues
- Highly organised, with ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Self-motivated, with professional attitude to meeting deadlines and adhering to documented work standards
