About the role

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review H&S policies, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe working environment
  • Champion and embed a safety-first culture across all teams, promoting open communication and hazard reporting
  • Manage internal H&S systems and audit frameworks for Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental accreditations
  • Conduct site inspections, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Lead and minute H&S meetings, track actions, and ensure follow-up
  • Stay up to date with legislation, embedding regulatory changes into company policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Heads of Department to ensure equipment and systems are maintained, serviced, and compliant
  • Support tenders and client requests with HSQE documentation and reporting
  • Investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Deliver monthly KPI and performance reports to the Board
  • Design and oversee structured H&S training and toolbox talks, ensuring consistent record keeping
  • Mentor and coach colleagues in safety, quality, and environmental awareness
  • Develop emergency response plans and lead drills across the organisation

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Health & Safety management within a high-risk industry (construction or manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S, Environmental, and Quality legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Experience managing audits, accreditations, and risk assessments
  • Qualified to NEBOSH or IOSH standard (essential)
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and attention to detail
  • Calm, pragmatic problem-solver who can perform under pressure
  • Confident communicator able to influence, engage, and inspire at all levels
  • Positive, proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites as required
