About the role

  • Head of Engineering leading multidisciplinary teams at GT Wings, developing wind propulsion systems for maritime industry. Ensuring world-class performance, reliability, and safety in engineering delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end engineering function, spanning design, system integration, testing, certification and in-service support.
  • Guide a multidisciplinary team across mechanical, electrical, software and systems engineering.
  • Ensure every AirWing product meets world-class standards for performance, reliability and safety.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Head of Operations, own the product and technology roadmap.
  • Develop scalable processes and build the engineering capability to take GT Wings into full production.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, systems integration)
  • Proven full lifecycle delivery from concept and detailed design through to production and in-service support
  • Strong understanding of product safety, compliance and verification & validation processes
  • Experience structuring teams, processes and budgets to support scale-up engineering delivery
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and commercial functions
  • Degree-qualified in engineering (Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional recognition preferred)
  • Ideally based within commutable distance of Hampshire (hybrid working supported)
  • Any exposure to marine, renewable or advanced hardware sectors is desirable, as are 3D/2D design reviews, software control systems, class-society compliance, and a background in establishing engineering processes and technology roadmaps.
