About the role

  • Head of Software Development leading large development teams for a top digital agency with over 400 employees. Focusing on team leadership, coaching, and strategy for modern web and e-commerce projects.

Responsibilities

  • You take overall responsibility for all software development.
  • You coach and develop the Tech Leads and their teams (currently approx. 60 employees).
  • You define, in close coordination with the Tech Leads, the technical strategy, architecture standards and tool landscape for the entire company.
  • You optimize and establish efficient processes in the areas of teamwork, agile practices, quality assurance and CI/CD to sustainably increase productivity.
  • You are responsible for strategic resource planning, project allocation and monitoring in close coordination with project management and executive leadership.
  • You actively shape the entire recruiting and onboarding process to attract and retain top talent.
  • You take ownership of budget planning and the reporting of relevant KPIs (e.g. utilization, forecasts) to the executive management.

Requirements

  • Several years of relevant leadership experience in a comparable lead or Head-of-Engineering role, ideally in an agency or consulting environment.
  • Deep, solid understanding of modern software development, architectural principles and agile project work.
  • Proven success in team development and team building (recruiting, performance reviews).
  • Confident handling of budget planning, controlling and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to act as an interface between executive leadership, HR, sales and development teams.
  • You have strategic vision, drive change and enjoy optimizing processes (hands-on mentality).
