About the role
- Full Stack Mobile Developer for Substack, building native mobile apps and enhancing user experiences. Collaborate with a diverse team to drive user engagement and growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop native mobile apps (iOS in Swift and/or Android in Kotlin).
- Build features across mobile and web to support user activation and conversion.
- Iterate on key user flows in the Substack mobile apps and web platform.
- Work across full tech stack (TypeScript/Node.js/Express, React, Postgres).
- Collaborate with designers, writers, and support staff.
- Work directly with customers to solve their problems.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with both mobile and full stack development.
- Experience shipping high-quality native mobile apps (iOS and/or Android) to app stores.
- Strong full stack web development experience using Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Independent and autonomous.
- Hold yourself and others to a high standard when working on production systems.
- Take pride in building elegant and delightful product experiences.
- Enjoy collaboration with a diverse group of thinkers.
- Believe in Substack's mission to build a better business model for writing.
- Have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience at a fast-growing startup or working on a high-performing growth/activation team is not required, but is a plus.
