About the role

Mid-level engineer joining Validus frontend development team enhancing financial market applications. Collaborating across teams to implement and improve user experiences in our technology platform.

Responsibilities

Deliver new features to a high standard with meaningful test coverage for Validus applications including the order management system and the risk management system.
Collaborate with backend, quant, and platform teams to integrate features and resolve issues across the stack.
Participate in code reviews, supporting more junior colleagues and learning from experienced engineers to continually improve technical skills.
Contribute to UI/UX improvements across the Horizon platform to improve ease-of-use, and uphold consistency in our design principles.
Participate in agile ceremonies, such as daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, estimation, and retrospectives.
Contribute ideas to improve the frontend technology stack, working alongside senior engineers to implement new technologies.
Support development and maintenance of features that use real-time data communication (e.g. via WebSockets).
Work within our Nx-based frontend monorepo to implement new functionality and maintain existing components.
Utilise Zustand and TanStack Query for state and data management, and React Router for routing.
Work on real-time data components, such as market data in graphs using HighCharts, to keep users up to-date.
Use HandsOnTable to display large amounts of data, whilst improving performance to give the user an “excel” like feel within the browser.

Strong TypeScript knowledge.
Strong React knowledge.
Experience with state management libraries, such as Zustand or Redux.
Ability to write clean, maintainable and testable code.
Experience with writing automated tests and testing frameworks like Vitest and Playwright.
Experience in consuming data from APIs using architectural styles like REST and GraphQL.
Ability to implement beautiful styles using CSS.
Good communication skills working in a cross-discipline environment
