About the role
- Engineering Manager at MODIFI, leading cross-functional teams of Java and JavaScript engineers in Berlin. Driving hands-on coding efforts and fostering an agile engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional Squad of Java and JavaScript Engineers, helping them to become self-organised, agile and autonomous
- Be responsible for the people within the Squad as well as for the delivery
- Contribute to the success of your Squad with hands-on coding in Java and Spring Boot
- Define objectives, track the progress and support every Engineer in achieving them
- Coach and mentor the Engineers by providing regular feedback
- Establish a vital Engineering culture
- Team-up with other Engineering Managers and the Senior Product Leadership
- Work closely with the CTO and the Founders of the company
Requirements
- A Software Engineering professional with at least 2 years of experience in a relevant Leadership role (such as Engineering Manager or VP Engineering with People responsibility)
- Responsibility for the people in your team as well as a bias towards contributing hands-on by writing code
- A proven track record in building best-in-class software systems
- Expert in Java and related technologies, such as Spring Boot, relational databases and Kafka
- Solid understanding of JavaScript (knowledge in frameworks such as React.js or Angular) is a plus
- An emphatic and inspirational Leader
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work in a structured way
- An effective problem solver with a strong Business sense
- Eager to work in a fast-paced, fault-tolerant, agile environment with cross-functional teams
- Fluent in English
