About the role

  • The Propulsion Mechanical Integration Specialist will be responsible for the mechanical design, integration, and optimization of the propulsion system installation for a new regional airplane.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of technical requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and statements of work (SOWs) for propulsion subsystem suppliers.
  • Lead or support mechanical layout, packaging, and installation of propulsion components, including thermal engines, gearboxes, propellers, and associated systems.
  • Support the development of the mounting structure designs, including load path assessments, vibration isolation, and thermal management considerations.
  • Collaborate with electrical, systems, and aerodynamics engineering teams to ensure full integration alignment of hybrid-electric propulsion elements.
  • Participate in system and nacelle integration trade studies to optimize weight, performance, maintainability, and safety.
  • Support CAD model development, installation models, and configuration management activities.
  • Contribute to propulsion system integration testing, ground and flight test support, and design-for-manufacture and maintenance efforts.
  • Investigate and resolve technical integration challenges through analytical methods and innovative engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in propulsion or mechanical integration for aircraft powerplant or nacelle systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, structural interfaces, and vibration and thermal effects in propulsion installations.
  • Familiarity with electric, hybrid-electric, or turboprop propulsion architectures, including integration of mechanical and electrical power sources.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with a proactive and hands-on mindset.
