About the role
- Build, inspire and grow a high performance team of data scientists that are thought partners to the teams that run Pinterest’s ads stack.
- Apply strong causal inference/marketplace knowledge with a deep understanding of how ML models drive business.
- Work with product and engineering partners to identify and answer important “why and how” questions.
- Lead the team to structure ambiguous technical challenges into actionable plans and ensure consistently trustworthy, high-quality technical outputs.
- Drive data-driven decision-making aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Communicate complex findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Champion building highly talented and diverse teams with an inclusive culture.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in managing small teams of highly technical scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Hands on experience as a data scientist, research scientist, applied scientist, or machine learning engineer in a technology company.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with hypothesis driven product development.
- Experience being a thought partner to improve decision quality and able to influence with expertise.
- Industrial experience with ads product and metrics.
- US based applicants only.
- Able to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/month.
