SpecsaversData Engineer
Data Engineer designing and developing data solutions at Specsavers. Collaborating on data pipelines and migrations with analysts and stakeholders.
About the role
- Design and implement robust end-to-end data pipelines (ELT, Reverse-ETL)
- Employ data modelling techniques in BigQuery and dbt with emphasis on legal and venture capital data
- Build production-grade LLM pipelines and own the ADLC from pilot through deployment and iteration
- Closely support and learn from internal departments, including senior stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership on data solutions that impact the company
- Solve complex problems and take ownership of AI/LLM applications to real business challenges
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related practical discipline
- At least 1 year of experience as a Data Engineer, AI Engineer, or related role
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency in Python
- Proficient in and passionate about SQL, dbt, and data modelling techniques
- Experience with columnar databases (advantage)
- Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g. Dagster, Airflow, Argo)
- Experience working with AWS/GCP and utilising databases, compute, storage, and serverless technologies (advantage)
- Comfortable working within the Linux OS ecosystem, including command line tools and bash or similar scripting
- Problem-solving skills, passion for learning, attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills
