About the role
- Contracts & Legal Operations Specialist at Trainline managing contract lifecycle from negotiation to execution. Optimising legal technology and processes to support commercial ambitions.
Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of commercial contracts, from creation and negotiation to execution, renewal, and archiving.
- Review and negotiate standard vendor agreements (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and service contracts) with support from the legal team.
- Maintain a central contract repository and ensure obligations, renewals, and key data are visible to the business.
- Manage templates, playbooks, and guidance, using AI-powered tools to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Act as the go-to contact for contract-related queries across Trainline.
- Lead the implementation, adoption, and optimisation of our legal technology stack (e.g. CLM systems, DocuSign, AI automation).
- Identify and deliver process improvements across workflows, reporting, and document management.
- Oversee vendor relationships, budgets, and invoicing related to legal tools and suppliers.
- Develop dashboards and metrics to track contract performance and operational efficiency.
- Keep legal templates, policies, and documentation accurate and compliant.
Requirements
- Experience in contract management or legal operations within an in-house team.
- Skilled in reviewing and managing high-volume, low-complexity contracts.
- Familiarity with legal technology platforms (e.g. Ironclad, DocuSign, Wordsmith).
- Strong understanding of commercial contracting principles and risk management.
- Confident working with data and dashboards in Excel or similar tools.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Law degree (helpful but not essential).
