About the role

  • Support the evaluation of the nature and extent of contamination, support risk assessments, and evaluate remedial alternatives.
  • Conduct environmental field investigations and data collection/sampling.
  • Oversee field activities (i.e., drilling, sampling, maintenance activities, and routine testing) and subcontractors.
  • Conduct site testing, design/optimize remediation systems, and evaluate viable remedial alternatives.
  • Prepare work plans, cost estimates, project schedules, and project proposals for continuing investigation and remedial activities at various sites.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures for engineering data analysis.
  • Compile and assess environmental data using spreadsheets, databases, and GIS.
  • Prepare accurate and professional technical reports and presentations.
  • Document research and review related to environmental impacts.
  • Conduct self-monitoring quality assurance/quality control and QA/QC reviews of other professionals.
  • Adhere to ERM NewFields and client health and safety practices and protocols.
  • Participate in team-based project work resulting in client satisfaction and the on-time completion of quality technical work products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2+ years experience in environmental consulting or related field.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of New Jersey environmental regulations and technical guidance.
  • Familiar with MS Office.
  • Holds a 40 hour-HAZWOPER certification with 8 hour refresher.
  • Willingness to conduct field work in remote locations and inclement weather.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Required Travel: Seldom to moderate overnight travel events may be required.
  • The position requires sitting for long periods, extended hours working on a computer, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Field assignments may require standing, squatting, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds over prolonged periods.
  • Ability to receive acceptable medical approval to visit remote manufacturing, marine terminals, or oil terminal sites.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment on an infrequent basis.
  • Ability to drive multiple hours per day, several days per month traveling across the tri-state area; valid driver's license required.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
  • PREFERRED: Perform Phase I and II environmental site assessments to support property transfer transactions per ASTM standards.
  • PREFERRED: Familiar with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and groundwater transport models such as ModFlow 6 or similar.
