About the role

  • Meet agency profitability and production objectives by underwriting new commercial business, renewal policies and policy endorsements
  • Understand and evaluate exposures related to individual risks through continued mentoring involvement
  • Integrate underwriting functions within the workflow of a Commercial Underwriter
  • Assist in analysis of individual agency and book of business results to determine corrective actions
  • Support the Commercial Enterprise Division and Regional Sales Manager in identifying corrective measures to assure underwriting profit
  • Help establish specific action plans and develop written premium goals at agency and book of business level
  • Promote product line to agencies via personal visits, regular telephone contact and appropriate promotional mailings
  • Provide territory performance reports and action plans to leadership as needed
  • Participate in agency meetings, events and loss control service calls; may maintain and develop customized reports for loss control representatives
  • Act as a source of reference for underwriting support staff and provide guidance and mentoring to Underwriter I

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in commercial multi-line underwriting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field (preferred)
  • Completion of certificate in General Insurance and Associate in Underwriting program (preferred)
