About the role
- Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer supporting and optimizing RTX's Active Virtual Desktop environment. Requires strong Azure and cloud infrastructure experience for seamless operations and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) host pools, workspaces, and session hosts
- Implement and maintain FSLogix profile containers using Azure Files or NetApp
- Optimize AVD performance and user experience through image management and autoscaling
- Configure Azure networking components (VNet, NSG, firewalls) for secure AVD access
- Monitor and troubleshoot AVD sessions, user profiles, and application delivery
- Collaborate with security teams to apply hardening policies and compliance controls
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, ARM templates, or Bicep
- Maintain documentation and contribute to knowledge base for AVD operations
- Support integration with Microsoft 365, Teams, and third-party applications
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for AVD-related issues
Requirements
- Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering
- a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling
- Advanced degree and 5+ years’ related work experience
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop
- Experience with Azure PaaS, Active Directory, and FSLogix
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and infrastructure-as-code
- Current U.S. citizenship is required
