About the role
- Application Support Engineer supporting critical systems for UK Defence and Government. Involves proactive support and collaboration with engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Carry out installation and support activities, including system deployments, routine health checks, log inspections, patching, and upgrades.
- Deliver both reactive and proactive support, escalating issues where service levels or quality may be at risk.
- Manage and update support tickets promptly, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
- Maintain in-house reference systems that mirror customer environments.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, contributing to a growing knowledge base that strengthens service delivery and resilience.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, promoting Envitia’s reputation for reliability and excellence.
- Keep Account Managers informed on customer sentiment, personnel changes, and potential opportunities identified through support interactions.
Requirements
- Experience deploying and hosting applications within corporate Linux and/or Windows environments
- Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly PowerShell and Bash
- Familiarity with Java-based applications
- Hands-on development experience is an advantage
- Experience managing application hosting in Cloud or virtualized environments such as Azure, AWS, or VMware
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience supporting applications with integration and connectivity challenges
- Capable of working independently to provide effective 1st and 2nd line support
- SC security clearance requirements
