About the role

  • Engineer IV-VI supporting the development of reactor licensing efforts and NCR engagements. Collaborating with internal teams and providing compliance support in regulatory processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support portions of licensing activities (certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses associated with reactor technologies) and ensure milestones are met as agreed with the U.S. NRC
  • Provide licensing support to engineers in developing technical requirements that will ensure compliance with NRC regulations and guidance
  • Support scope development of the annual regulatory engagement plan, lead regulatory audits and responses to RAI’s (Requests for Additional Information)
  • Develop licensing content to support portions of Safety Analysis Reports and licensing applications
  • Support planning and executing the X-energy licensing strategy
  • Develop regulatory white papers, technical reports, and licensing topical reports
  • Support development of licensing plans and associated budgets
  • Actively support the X-energy safety culture and ensure integration of quality in licensing processes as informed by the X-energy Quality Assurance Program
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (e.g. mechanical, nuclear, electrical, physics) or other related area
  • Typically, ten years of relevant licensing experience for Level IV
  • Typically, fifteen years of relevant licensing experience for Level V
  • Typically, twenty years of relevant licensing experience for Level VI
  • Experience in direct NRC interactions (written and/or verbal)
  • Understanding of the nuclear regulatory processes in the United States
  • Experience in project management related to developing schedules and coordinating team activities to produce technical content for regulatory purposes
  • Experience with Nuclear Fuel, Spent Fuel Storage, and/or Graphite preferred
