About the role

  • Political Director overseeing candidate recruitment, training, and political strategy for the Working Families Party in Pennsylvania. Collaborating with key political relationships to execute long-term strategies in the state.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Mid-Atlantic Political Director in organizing and leading political strategy in the state.
  • Build and execute the PA WFP’s candidate recruitment and training program.
  • Lead the PA-WFP’s electoral endorsement process and support endorsed candidates as necessary.
  • Take primary responsibility for Philadelphia political relationships, and support the Legislative and Political teams on responsibility for political and electoral work in other PA-WFP geographies.
  • Lead our candidate recruitment and development, including assessing leaders interested in running for office and/or working on political campaigns.
  • Develop, strengthen and activate new and existing relationships with partners, local leaders, community stakeholders, and grassroots organizations to identify grassroots and progressive candidates to run for office.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years experience in campaigns, advocacy, or organizing
  • At least three years of electoral experience
  • Significant experience with Pennsylvania politics and issue areas
  • Relationships with PA elected officials, labor unions, and/or community groups are required
  • Capacity to design, evaluate and oversee electoral programs
  • Knowledge of all aspects of electoral campaigning
  • Knowledge of voter contact tools, data management systems, and digital organizing techniques
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends from time to time
