About the role

  • Materials Engineer providing project support for refinery and petrochemical developments. Reviewing contractor work and ensuring compliance with industry standards based in Reading, UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of advice and support to the project on materials selection, corrosion control, coatings and linings, cathodic protection, fabrication, welding and non-destructive examination and testing.
  • Review of reports, specifications, drawings, procedures and other technical documents prepared by others
  • Evaluation of technical proposals and alternate designs, and preparation of reports summarizing evaluation and providing recommendations for future action.
  • Attend meetings with client, other contractors and suppliers

Requirements

  • Extensive experience, primarily in a contracting environment, working with materials selection, corrosion control, coatings and linings, cathodic protection, fabrication, welding, non-destructive examination and testing on FEED and EPC projects for the oil and gas, refinery and petrochemical industries
  • Experience of undertaking PMC work on oil and gas, refinery or petrochemical projects
  • Operations and Maintenance experience
  • Flexible attitude, with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with relevant API, ASME, NACE and other international standards and publications
  • Computer literate within Microsoft
